OIHS Students Publish a New Graphic Novel!

Thank you to everyone who made our February 23rd book launch at the Oakland Public Library main branch a great success! Students debuted their new graphic novel and presented videos they had created from their comics. 150 people attended, including Oakland's mayor Jean Quan, who got autographs from our student author-artists. Photos of the event can be seen here.

A very special thank you goes to these supporters who made the project possible, as well as everyone who has helped our book reach a public audience. Our book was featured on What Kids Can Do and public radio's The California Report. We sold out of the first printing, and have just sent out books from the second printing!

You can still buy your own copy of WE ARE OAKLAND INTERNATIONAL. All proceeds from the book go directly to the school to continue its mission of providing quality alternative public education to recently arrived immigrants.
